CHANGES at NOLA LEARNING SUPPORT and CONSULTING

May 24, 2022

Dear all-

Changes are part of life, and we were truly blessed to have had Katie Hecker as part of our team this past school year. We are proud of her completion of her graduate program in Educational Therapy, joining as an Associate Member of AET https://www.aetonline.org/ and her start in a rewarding career! This knowledge base is a perfect fit for her new position at Isidore Newman School beginning in August. Please see her letter below which explains her new role, as well as how and when she plans to transition. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Katie, and we will miss her very much!

This summer, and in the upcoming school year, Todd will continue seeing students on a more limited basis as he continues to develop our company’s school placement consulting piece. As an Independent Educational Consultant, Todd’s specialty is assisting families with independent school placement. He has a solid grasp on the application process and the expectations of local private schools as well as boarding schools across the United States. He has just returned from the IECA conference in Philadelphia where he met with many school representatives as well as other members of the Independent Educational Consultants Association. For more information on Todd’s services, please see his website:https://www.novakprepconsulting.com/ He will be sending out a blog soon about the specifics of what he gained from attending the conference.

It will be a priority to continue to support our current students and offer support to any of Katie’s students (as best as we can) who would like to continue with NOLA Learning Support and Consulting. Our rate structure will change as we will be offering some lower hourly fees to students we see during specific hours and who also commit to a certain number of sessions. Our “prime time” (between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.) hourly rates will go up. This is the best way we can help families in need, as well as offer spacious offices, a waiting room, materials and various programs, short updates about sessions, travel to see some students on campus and to afford the professional development that is required by the Association of Educational Therapists and IECA. We also have a sponsorship program that we are deeply committed to.

We will be reaching out to our current families about fall scheduling first, and we are available for parent meetings and sessions with students in July and August. We will also be sending out a weekly Calendly scheduling link for any extra sessions available or meeting times beginning July 5. We would like to meet with all families to set summer and fall goals and to address any concerns. This summer we will also try to accommodate Katie’s families that reach out to us to request regular weekly sessions after her departure.

We are leaving for vacation next week, and we will be returning to work on July 5. I am currently lesson planning remediation sessions that Katie is covering for me in June. I also intend to send an email to every client of mine in the next week or two, making recommendations for at-home work that can be completed in June. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Todd and I will both be available by email at: nolalsp504@gmail.com

We hope you have a wonderful summer. We are driving out to California to see family and to enjoy a cooler climate! This will allow us to be refreshed and ready for your children when we return.

Best,

Kate

Dear Parents,

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you I recently accepted a position at Newman School as their 4th/5th Grade Learning Specialist for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Though I am looking forward to this professional opportunity, I recognize this will require a transition of services for my current students, beginning in the fall.

For those already signed up for summer sessions, please know I intend to continue with NOLA Learning Support through August 5th.

Kate Novak and I have had several discussions about each student individually, and should you wish to continue with NOLA Learning Support, she and Todd have been wonderful about keeping part of their summer and fall schedules open to allow for a continuation of services. They will be away for the month of June, but have time for meetings, assessments or sessions in July and part of August. However, as their fall sessions (beginning on August 22nd) are already being filled, we wanted to inform you as soon as possible so that you can reach out to them regarding availability. If you’d like to discuss specific questions with them, please email Kate at nolalsp504@gmail.com.

I am of course more than happy to further discuss your child's individual situation. Please feel free to email me to set up a time to speak or meet.

I am deeply grateful for your trust in my work with your child. We will do all that we can to ensure the smoothest of transitions and most appropriate support for our students.

Most Sincerely,

Katie
