For decades, reading instruction has been a highly debatable topic that has impacted so many lives. Finally, evidence and research based instruction is taking over! This is an approach I have used during my entire professional career. I have sat in countless parent/teacher conferences with teachers who were trained in Lucy Calkins telling me how to instruct. Now, thankfully her methods are being exposed. Since 2019, 42 states have passed laws requiring schools or teacher training programs to use research-backed reading strategies.
